Join us on a “Heal the Sea Eco Tour”. Have the encounter of a lifetime as you come face to face with one of the largest creatures on earth! Learn how to heal the sea and bless the “Friendly Grey Whales” as they travel over 6,000 miles to give birth to their young in the safe lagoons of Baja California.

Fran and Annie Tablas MacAulay have been providing marine science educational programs for over 27 years with over 150,000 participants joining them in marine biology programs on Catalina Island as well as other places around the world.

Annie has been studying  Grey Whales in the field for over 30 years and has guided various Marine Mammal eco tours since 1994. This will be a trip of a lifetime as see Grey Whales up close and personal and often get a chance to pet these beautiful whales. 

Itinerary

Day 1
March 18 (Wednesday) – Arrive in Cabo San Lucas

Arrive at SJD. This night is on your own (we recommend WorldMark by Wyndham).

You may also arrive early on March 12, but we cannot accommodate late or missed flights.

The van departs for La Paz at 12:00 p.m. (Thursday).

Travel note: As of February, 2025, sample fares were ~$569 for a ~7.5 hr trip (RSW→SJD)

and a similar price for a ~2.5 hr trip (LAX→SJD). Prices fluctuate.

Day 2

March 19 (Thursday) – Cabo → La Paz (2.25 hrs)


• Depart Cabo at 12:00 p.m. for La Paz (approx. 2 hr 15 min drive).
• Check in; dinner out early.
• Evening Whale & Heal the Sea Orientation.

Day 3
March 20 (Friday) – La Paz → San Carlos (Magdalena Bay) (3.25 hrs).

• Depart by 10:00 a.m. for San Carlos (approx. 3 hr 15 min; lunch stop en route).
• Check in; afternoon at the dunes: hike, birdwatch, beachcomb, or relax.
Orientation #2; dinner on your own.

Days 4 to 5

March 21-22 (Saturday & Sunday) – San Carlos | Full-Day Whale Watching

• On the water 7:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
Breakfast, lunch, and dinner provided by HTS Tours.

Day 6

March 23 (Monday) – San Carlos → La Paz → Cabo (5.5 hrs)


Chill morning, depart by 10:00 a.m. for Cabo (approx. 5.5 hrs).
Lunch stop in La Paz.
• Arrive in Cabo between 5:00–6:00 p.m.
Accommodations this night are on your own.

Important Notes:

Departure policy: We’re unable to delay for late/missed flights. Please plan to be ready before 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 19.

Meals included: All meals on Mar 21–22 (B/L/D). Other meals are on your own unless noted.

Walking & terrain: Dune hikes are optional; sandy terrain.

Locations: San Carlos is a gateway town on Magdalena Bay.
